Three sites have been identified that could provide all the required number of bed spaces with extra capacity identified as contingency.

  • Mirehouse Site could provide construction worker accommodation and facilities linked to rail connections, for an estimated 2,500 workers (with reserve capacity to increase the number of bed spaces by 1,000 to an estimated 3,500 workers).
  • Corkickle Site could provide construction worker accommodation and facilities, linked to rail connections for an estimated 1,000 workers (with reserve capacity to increase the number of bed spaces by 500 to an estimated 1,500).
  • Egremont Site could provide construction worker accommodation and facilities for an estimated 500 workers (with reserve capacity to increase the number of bed spaces by 500 to an estimated 1,000). Linked to the Moorside Site by coach shuttle.
  • The accommodation rooms will be similar to that of student accommodation and provide individual bedrooms with showers and ensuite WC, canteen, leisure and recreational facilities including gym / fitness areas and places for evening entertainment.
  • NuGen is considering the need for a proportion of the accommodation and their associated buildings at any of the sites to remain as permanent structures for when Moorside Power Station is operational.
  • NuGen is also examining how buildings required for temporary bed spaces could have a potential future legacy benefit for local communities.
